At this time of year I think it's time we spared a thought for those less fortunate than ourselves , those who for one reason or another have been bereft of social skills , too scared to go out into the light they sit huddled in rooms all over the world blinking in the only light that their eyes can cope with , spare a thought for the lonely the video says more without words than I ever could , thank you .

i've done my donations to the salvation army, and dropped off gifts for the kids this year...befriending a geek is a new one to me...it truly is a good idea, since christmas really sucks by yourself.

e. Not spending your life huddled in your parents' basement, alone, with no job and no friends.

I mean, first 4 are debatable, but "e" is a start.

Your definition of awesome probably differs from others, so that is irrelevant. Being rich doesn't make you a success. Attractive? Again, that has nothing to do with it. Stop being so shallow.

Success is living your life in a way that makes you happy. Success can only be measured by oneself, no one else. If a person wants to eat a box of twinkies a day, be 400 lbs, live in their parents basement, and aspires to learn every programming language known to man, that is their prerogative. If they feel their life was a success when it is their time to die, it was. Again, don't be so shallow.

I donated to Toys for Tots this year. 25 Nintendo DS systems with a copy of Nintendogs Labrador Edition. I feel all warm and fuzzy.

While I almost certainly agree, the fundamental assumption in sociology is that humans are social creatures; that humans need human contact to survive. Nobody is completely independent of anybody else, but you're right. It is subjective/relative to each individual; society imposes certain ideals onto us as to what we should be.

Personally, I'm an atheist; I haven't done anything for anybody, and I have no money and no job [almost done with college]. Spending time with people would suffice, I think.

I'm agnostic, but doing nice things for people is always good. But you are right, without money/job, all you can do is give your prescience to others and make it a happy occasion.
